Terms of service.

Plain language. The protocol is MIT — these terms govern only the OpenKarta-operated services (registry, API, marketing site).

1. Scope

These terms apply to the services operated by the OpenKarta foundation: the registry at registry.openkarta.org, the public API at api.openkarta.org, and the marketing site at openkarta.org. The protocol packages on npm and the source code on GitHub are governed by their MIT license.

2. Acceptable use

Don't abuse the public API. Reasonable rate limits apply (see headers on every response). Don't use the API to enumerate competitors' merchants for harassment. Don't impersonate a merchant in the registry submission flow.

We may suspend abusive accounts or domains. Suspensions are reversible by emailing hello@openkarta.org with context.

3. Registry listings

By submitting an agent for listing, you affirm you control the domain you submit, that the manifest you publish is accurate, and that you will keep the agent reachable enough to pass the conformance sweep. Failure to do so results in stale and ultimately delisted status.

We do not act as a merchant of record. The merchant remains solely responsible for fulfillment, taxation, refunds, and dispute resolution with buyers.

4. Disclaimers & liability

The services are provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. The protocol packages are MIT-licensed and carry the MIT warranty disclaimer. To the fullest extent permitted by law, OpenKarta is not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the services.

Conformance badges are signed attestations of the registry runner's observations at a point in time. They are not warranties of merchant quality, fulfillment reliability, or product safety.

5. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced via the changelog at least 14 days before they take effect.

6. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, where the foundation is incorporated. Disputes are resolved in the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka.
